Wan Azizah quits, Anwar to contest

PETALING JAYA:

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has resigned as Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament to make way for her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest in a by-election.

At a packed press conference at the party headquarters on Thursday, Dr Wan Azizah said the decision was made after deliberations with her family, the PKR leadership and its partners in the Pakatan Rakyat loose coalition of Opposition parties.

"I have officially submitted my resignation as MP to the Parliament Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, to make way for my husband, Anwar Ibrahim, to contest as a candidate for Pakatan Rakyat in a by-election as soon as possible," she said.

***************************************************

Interesting as well as troubling news.

Interesting because it may determine the landscape of Malaysia political scene.
Interesting because it may determine what Pak "Sleepy" Lah has up his sleeve to handle the resurgence Anwar.
Interesting because it may determine what Musang Hasan and Guni Patail would be doing to Anwar to suck up to his political master.
Interesting because Najis is trembling with fear in anticipation of backlash from the incoming PM.
Troubling because more troubles are in store for ordinary Malaysians.
Troubling because more street demos are to be expected.
Troubling because the lifes of we Malaysians would not change, irregardless of who runs the country.

Report saying Saiful not sodomised

PETALING JAYA:
A medical report purportedly stating there was no medical indication of Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan having been sodomised has surfaced on online news portals.

The medical report from Hospital Pusrawi, signed by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid at 2.14pm on June 28, ruled out that Mohd Saiful was sodomised.

It said there was “zero active bleeding”, “zero ulcer or pus” and “zero tear and scar” in Mohd Saiful's anus."

****************************************************************

This is another example of Malaysia's boleh mentality. Almost everything - under the sun - is possible. Yes, Malaysia boleh - even the most unthinkable of things.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and see what will happen.

This is where things may transform into more interesting accusation of conspiracies & counter-accusations, allegations & counter-allegations and denials.

I'm still confused - same state of mind from Day !. The questions that linger in my head:

1. Was Saiful "sodomized" by a broom stick at the hospital during the "check up"?

2. Would the doctor be coerced to write the report that Saiful was sodomize?

3. Would our police / prosecution and Anwar's political foes resort to such a dirty tactic?

But having known what Malaysia is capable of, if wouldn't be surprising at all.

What BN leaders become suddenly good at?

I can’t help but thinking – All the sudden, BN leaders become good at something. More so after loosing the two-third majority in Parliament, loosing Selangor, Perak, Penang and Kedah to Pakatan and failing to wrest Kelantan from PAS in the March GE.

You know what they are good at? After much observation, I realized that they suddenly become good in giving advices and criticizing. They suddenly become experts in some subject matters, which they clearly lacked when they were in power. They give the rakyat advices after advices. The rakyat must do this and that, the rakyat musn’t do this and that. Better still, they suddenly found a lot of ideas on how to run the governments, especially in the Pakatan-controlled states. The Pakatan governments must do this and that, the Pakatan governments mustn’t do this and that. What is clear is that their criticisms aimed at “teaching” the Pakatan governments, embarrassing them, and hopefully they collapse – far from criticizing them constructively. The irony is that they clearly lacked these knowledge how when they were in power. Even small leaders also become experts nowadays.

What they do and say reflect how badly they wanted to get back to their predecessors. Some of them did or say things to the extent of embarrassing themselves. Some are even desperados. I, for one, would be embarrassed to claim to have voted in these fools before.

Funny, isn’t it? Consider what these experts say.

  • “Lim and his state EXCO members should take a pay cut instead of harping about their CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) philosophy. Tell us what social, economic and educational development you are going to bring for the Malays who cannot even afford low-cost housing”, Pinang Tunggal Assemblyman, Roslan Saidin, The Star 25-Jul-08

YB Roslan Saidin – What have you done for the Malays during BN’s reign in Penang for so many decades? Where were the CAT during your time?

  • “If that can lead to unity and stability, I’m sure the Chinese and Indian communities will welcome it because stability will lead to the people being able to improve their lives”, Shafie Apdal, Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage, commenting on the high-level UMNO-PAS dialogues. The Star 23-Jul-08.

YB Shafie – either you’re being naïve or too smart an ass trying to cover up the underlying motive of the dialogue. Don’t you know that that dialogue was smacked with political motive – never been for Malay unity. Your Khir “Tempe” Toyo panicked upon learning that he would be reduced to being an opposition who would “terpekik-terlolong” (insane - making noises here and there without purpose); and that he stooped so low like a small piece of smelly shit offering to be the Deputy MB to Dr Hassan Ali, should PAS accepted the power-sharing with UMNO in Selangor. Luckily, good sense prevailed in PAS.

  • “It shows that the present assemblyman either does not have his own ideas or that my questions must be of high quality,” former Keramat Assemblyman, Ong Thean Lye, on his allegation that Sungai Pinang Assemblyman, Koid Teng Guan copied his questions that were raised in the current session. The Star, 23-Jul-08.

Ex-YB Ong Thean Lye – either you and your fellow ex-assemblymen were a bunch of “bo kam guan” (Hokkien words for being a sour grape) fellas for being voted out OR you guys have nothing useful to do, so much so to the extent of coming up with the banner, “DAP’s CAT GOVERNMENT, COPY CAT GOVERNMENT” just to get back at the DAP rep.

If this is yours and your fellow ex-assemblymen’s true mentality, it serves you right for being voted out. In fact, you and your fellow ex-assemblymen should not have been voted in at all. What did you do when in power?

  • “But now that they are at the helm, I sincerely hope they will keep their words by putting up such road signs”, Dr. Thor Teong Ghee, former Penang Municipal councillor, who led a group of Gerakan members putting up six road signs in Chinese in Georgetown. The Star, 22-Jul-08.

Dr. Thor Teong Ghee – you and your good-for-nothing buddies are no difference from your ex-YB, Ong Thean Lye – a bunch of “bo kam guan” fellas, whose mission is to embarrass your foe, the DAP but in the process, gets embarrassed instead. You and your bunch of stupid fools show how low a mentality you guys have. If you guys think you are so good, go head on with the DAP professionally. You guys spent party’s money and time for the road signs (or are they free?). You guys have all the time on earth to put up such a low class and stupid show. Pity Gerakan. It was voted out partly because of the mentality and maturity of the “leaders” like you guys. You guys had your chance in the past, but what did you do?

  • “You also can’t insist on the IPPs reducing their charge capacity when they are already agreements that allow them to do this. That would mean rescinding on the agreement, something that only kerajaan perompak would do”, Shahrir Samad, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, rebutting Anwar’s claim that RM2bil could be saved by reducing the country’s 40% electricity buffer to 20%, as the extra capacity only benefited IPPs. The Star, 20-Jul-08.

Pak Shahrir – your statement really embarrasses your government la. It shows how stupid the government is into signing such a loop-sided agreement which favours the IPPs more? Such an agreement shouldn’t have been signed in the first place. This is as clear as the sunny skies, otherwise the government wouldn’t have imposed a windfall tax on the IPPs

Or the government has been misled into signing such as agreement, the motive of which is best known to certain quarters. Well, you may say that these IPPs pay back to the government in the form of windfall tax. But this tax goes direct to the government’s coffers. The rakyat do not enjoy it. In fact the rakyat have been made to pay an additional 26% in the form of electricity tariffs imposed by the TNB. In short, we, the rakyat suffer more for the government’s folly or shortsightedness.

Please Pak Shahrir, you’re my last hope in the current government. Stop stooping so low to please your political masters. You have come a long way. You have sacrificed and suffered a lot in the past. Don’t let your sacrifices and sufferings come to naught, unless you now have become one of them – smacked with personal interest and greed. Stand up on your own and be counted Pak Shahrir.

  • “DNA doe not lie. Give your sample and let the expert read it...... If he had gone.... to the Syariah Court, the best thing of him is to give a DNA sample. Why get into further arguments and controversy?”, Syed Hamid Albar, Home Minister, on Anwar’s refusal to give a DNA sample when he was brought to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur for medical examination. The Star, 18-Jul-08.

This Pak Hamid, the Kodomo Lion of UMNO, who thought Anwar was so naïve to submit to the authorities’ whims and fancies. Who are you kidding, Pak Hamid? Even kids know that in Malaysia everything can be fabricated, more so against political foes like Anwar, who you guys were seriously wanting to silence off. Tough luck, Pak Hamid.

Anwar had learnt his lesson well from the 1998 episode. Otherwise, you and your Chemistry Department would have concocted a perfectly-written script to implicate Anwar. The confirmation from your Chemistry Department that the semen found on Saiful’s underwear was that of Anwar’s but where is the proof? Had Anwar given his sample, your much sought-after proof would be unequivocal “found” of Saiful’s underwear, thus putting Anwar away for good – thus taking away the sleepless nights you and your ass-licking colleagues in the Cabinet and UMNO are currently having, as Anwar would no longer giving you guys nightmares.

Come on, Pak Hamid. You’re not dubbed The Kodomo Lion of UMNO for nothing. Continue your play-acting. You’re not bad an actor.

These are just some examples and the list goes on and on. But it’s irony that their motive is none other than to run down the so-called “opposition”. But they overlook the fact that the term “opposition” can only be used sparingly, as one becomes the government in one instance and then becomes an opposition in another instance. One may be the government in Pahang but when one crosses over into Selangor, he becomes an opposition. And these "bo kam guan" bunch of losers suddenly become experts - going all out to critisize other people at all cost - so much so that they forget about going back to governing.

PM okays Merc for T'ganu govt

KUALA TERENGGANU:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has given his blessings to the state government to use the Mercedes E200 Kompressors as official cars.

Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said this at a press conference here on Friday. Here.

    • After all the brohoha, things would return to normal. That's Malaysia. Whatever it's the flip-flop PM will have to give in to Ahmad Said. Ahmad Said will have his way. The PM would not dare to go against the wishes of Ahmad Said, who used to have or still having the support of the royal household.
    • The flip-flop PM is ever-prepared to change policies to suit those in power. Do you think he dares to say No to Ahmad Said? Definitely not, especially now that he needs Ahmad's support.
Meanwhile, the ACA has started has started a probe into the alleged high costs of maintaining the 16 Proton Perdana V6 Executive cars used by Terengganu executive councillors. Here.
    • Something is definitely not right. The maintenance cost for the TS12 (used by Idris Jusoh) between 2004 and 2008 was RM131,449 (if that is the correct figure, not RM235,123 as quoted earlier).
    • Where on earth you find the maintenance cost is so high - 30% more than the purchase price of the car.
    • Again, after all the brohoha, things would return to normal. This is Malaysia, or the BN Govt, to be more accurate. Nothing would happens. Nobody would be charged. This is a foregone conclusion.
Trsut me, nothing will happen. Can you imagine if that happens to the Pakatan states? I think it would come under heavy artillery from all the Cabinet ministers, plus that Ali "Syaitan" Rustam, Adnan, the chief gangster from Pahang, the ever foul-mouthed Bung Mokhtar, and everybody from the flip-flop PM's inner circles.

What a sad state of affairs!!!!!

Police were flexible with Anwar.

The Star, 18-July-2008

“Police decided to be “flexible” and released Anwar on bail although the offence was a non-bailable case”, said Syed Hamid.

“On the arrest, the minister said the police strongly believed that if Anwar had returned to his house in Bukit Segambut, it would have been more difficult to arrest him…..This is because in their previous experience when they tried to serve a notice under Section 111 of the CPC, they weren’t allowed to go in to give it to him personally”.

“By doing what they did, the police avoided having to have a scuffle with him…..Most importantly, Anwar was not harmed”.

*********************************************
  • 2 fundamental issues here.

    First.
Can’t understand Hamid!!! What was he trying to imply? Was it that difficult for the police to arrest Anwar had he returned to his house? Was it that difficult for the police to put on their ski-mask and stormed into Anwar’s house? It’s not that they have not done it before. It’s not that they have not scuffled with him before.

    Second
  • The high-handed action by the police should have landed Syed Hamid in hot soup. As the minister in charge of the police, he should be held accountable for their action.

In many countries, especially the West, the minister in charge usually resigns from his post to take responsibility of the action of their charges but not here in Malaysia.

Malaysia may have inherited the Westminster’s system of democracy from its colonial masters but not the spirit.

In Malaysia, however grave a mistake made or however grave a dereliction of duty or financial impropriety by public officials, nothing will happen and nobody is accountable for whatever.

Well, Najib may say it’s a collective responsibility. Collective responsibility means everybody is responsible for something but how come nobody is accountable.

To list down the cases may be a waste of time but the fact remains that NOBODY IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANYTHING. ANYTHING GOES.

Syed Hamid, shut up or ship out.

Ang pow cops transferred

The Star, 18-July-2008

Seremban: Four policemen from the Gemas police station have been transferred out after a colleague lodged a report alleging that they received “ang pow”……….

The State Police Chief said the corporal was apparently unhappy because he had received his transfer orders prior to the incident. “He had been working in Gemas for some time and did not want to leave. It was then that he decided to lodge a report against his colleagues.

He said the allegations against the officer-in-charge was also questionable, as he had been stationed there for less than six month…….The transfer of the four did not mean they were guilty.

*************************************
  • WHAO!!! What a pathetic action by the CPO.

A pathetic action leading to 3 jokes.

    Joke No.1
Why only transferred out? They should be SUSPENDED pending investigation.

Worst still, the CPO is defending them by saying that the transfer of the four did not mean they were guilty. If they are not guilty, why bother to transfer them? It’s akin to transferring the “rotten eggs” into another basket, thus infecting the new basket, not resolving the issue.

    What a joke, Mr. CPO!!!

    Joke No.2
The corporal lodged a report against his colleagues not because of the alleged graft but because he did not want to be transferred out.

All the while, the public were led to believe that the report was on alleged graft but now, you’re implying that the report was because he did not want to be transferred out.

    What a joke, Mr. CPO!!!

    Joke No.3
Just because he had been stationed there for less than six month, the allegation against the OCS was questionable.

You’re implying that since he was there for less than 6 months, he could not be possibly on the take. Don’t you know that the whole of Gemas station has been “bought”, irregardless of whether the OIC or other officers have been there 6 months, 1 year or 10 years? Likewise, many other stations in the country.

    What a joke, Mr. CPO!!!

It’s no wonder that corruption at its lowest level could not be weeded out, if such is the mentality of the state police chief in fighting graft.

Of Ministers’ stupidity and Police’s dreadful eagerness

Last week was a happening week showcasing Malaysia was at its best in making a mockery of its already badly-bruised reputation. It shows how rampant is the abuse of power and how haphazardly people in power act.

Anwar Ibrahim was arrested for alleged sodomy. Raja Petra Kamarudin was charged with criminal defamation.

It’s not Anwar’s arrest and the charges against Raja Petra that make up the mockery, but the manner they are done. I do not know whether to laugh or cry over it.

Anwar was arrested by ski-mask clad police one hour before his scheduled appointment at KL police headquarters. What? Arrested by ski-mask clad police? I wouldn’t mince a word if Anwar is a militant, terrorist, separatist or a wanted criminal long on the run.

Are they ski-masked as well when apprehending criminals like thieves, robbers, rapists or killer? But Anwar was not even a criminal yet.

Why? Are the police fearful of Anwar’s witch-hunt should he really becomes the PM later on? Only Bakri Zinin, the CID Director has the answer.

But one hour before time!!!! Can a person be detained one hour before he actually commits the crime? Anwar had not broken his promise yet. Or had he? One hour before time?

I had nausea upon reading the answer given by Bakri, who said, “He was arrested as we had reason to believe he was not going to show up at the KL police headquarters”.

Come on Bakri. Do you know what you were talking about? You could do better than that. You are the CID Director, unlike the corporal in Gemas police station. Yes, I would agree in cases involving national security but not in this case. Even if Anwar didn’t turn up at the KL police headquarters at 2 pm as promised, national security was not threatened at all? Why so hastily and inhumanely done? You don’t have to treat him the way you did. He deserved more respect. He’s the former Deputy PM, mind you. You don’t make sense at all, not even cow sense at its lowest.

There is no stopping the police from detaining anybody whenever they have reasons to believe so and so is planning something and something. Whao!!!!

I vomited when Wan Ahmad Farid, the Deputy Home Minister said “What is the difference in 20 or 50 minutes”, when asked why the police had not waited for the 2 pm appointment.

I finally vomited blood when Najib, the Deputy PM said, “Does it make so much difference, another half an hour or 45 minutes”, when asked why Anwar was arrested an hour before he was to report himself to the police.

Oh boy!!! They don’t understand the difference between 20, 30, 45 and 50 minutes.

Even my 2-year old dog can understand it. Such is the level of maturity of our leaders, PM-in-waiting included (no wonder he jumped up and down when Dr. M said he was weak.

For your information, Najib and Wan Ahmad Farid, let me highlight to you the meaning of one minute means (let alone 20, 30, 45 and 50 minutes):

· Many accidents could be avoided in a matter of minutes or even seconds.
· Many lives could be saved in one minute.
· Many babies were born into this world in one minute.
· Many people died in one minute.
· Many products become defective if timing is missed by a minute or even seconds.
· Many crimes take place in a matter of minutes.
· Anwar could have had his fast lunch, refreshed himself and be there at KL police headquarters in 45 or 50 minutes.

I too had reason to believe that police’s high-handedness and intense-eagerness to apprehend Anwar; and Ministers’ insane obsession to justify the police actions further erode the already-low public confidence in them.

An appeal to Anwar Ibrahim

Dear Mr. Anwar,

Before I commence, allow me to make a declaration (not a statutory declaration), but rather a declaration of my own in my capacity as a concerned Malaysian who truly yearn for peace, equity and harmonious society.

  • I hereby solemnly and truthfully declare that this appeal is done for the sole purpose of wanting to seek your cooperation in creating an environment whereby all of us loving Malaysian can live a life in a peaceful, equitable, prosperous and harmonious Malaysia.
  • I further declare that this declaration is made on my own freewill, in my sound state of mind, without being pressurized or influenced or put under duress by any party.
  • I also declare that this declaration is made not that I despise them less, but because I love you more. I can’t bear to see your eyes turning blue black, bruises on your body, your pride battered, your mind tortured and your family depressed and your sanity questioned.

My appeal to you is pretty simple: Drop your political agenda and start a new life as an ordinary Malaysian. Things do not look good for you. And I foresee things would not change in the near or far future for you. Allow me enlighten you a little.

I still don’t understand the cause you are fighting for.
I still don’t know your agenda.
But I know one thing: You don’t know who are you dealing with? Even if you do, you couldn’t careless but bulldozed your way through.

What for? Is it just to satisfy your ego and pride?

Does ego matters very much to you? Does it make you less human with a tainted ego? I am aware that as the Deputy PM, you once were the second most powerful man in Malaysia. I am also aware that as the Finance Minister, the country’s coffers were once under your control. Does it hurt your ego if you accept the fact that you are not there anymore? Does it hurt your ego when you no longer hold power like you did before? Does it hurt your ego to accept the fact that you’re not destined to be the country’s PM in the past, now and in future?

Does pride matters to you as much as ego does to you? Does it make you less human with a battered pride? Your pride was battered when you were removed as the Deputy PM. Your pride was battered when you were no longer in control of the country’s finance. Back to the question: Does pride matters very much to you?

Forget about your ego and pride. They are important but you don’t have to risk your life in defending them. Life is more important than ego and pride combined. Sacrifice your ego and pride for a peaceful life. Live a life as an ordinary man in the street. I believe you would have made enough while in power to last your lifetime or probably a few generations. As an ordinary citizen, you can do a lot of things the Prime Minister can’t. PM doesn’t drink “teh tarik” at the mamak stall. PM doesn’t watch movie in the cineplex. PM doesn’t eat “rojak” or “cendol” by the roadside. PM doesn’t shop in Mid-Valley. PM doesn’t walk around in the park. Yes, you’re right. PM leads a high life. PM dines in fine restaurants. PM watches movie in his private theatre. PM eats caviar, not rojak. PM shops in London, Paris or Milan. But you were there before. You experienced them before. You already had your time. Now is Pak Lah and Najib’s turn.

Why are you turning it into your personal vendatta? You’re angry with the government but you’re putting many people’s lives at risk. Who are you against? Don’t you know who are you up against? You are not against Pak Lah alone. You are not against Najib alone. You are up against Pak Lah, Najib, the Cabinet and the Dewan Rakyat and the entire government machinery. Who or what you are in control? Only your supporters, who will quiet down once a couple of the outspoken ones are “silenced”. Your supporters will desert you once they see nothing is in store for them any longer.

Is there any way you can win? No way. You are up against the Boss – the person-in-charge, as simple as that. There is no way one can win against the boss and his honchos.

They control the police. The police can plant evident against you. The police can fabricate evident against you. The police can plant witnesses against you.

They control the prosecution. The prosecution can slap whatever charges against you. They can make all sorts of allegations against you.

They control the courts. Do you think they will accord you fair trial?

They control the hospitals. Whatever medical tests done on you will be as instructed; and will be in their favour.

They control the armed forces. They control the entire government machinery. They can detain you. They can put you on trials. They can put you behind bars.

Then at Sungei Buloh, Kamunting or anywhere? Don’t you think the wardens are under their control as well?

You haven’t forgotten you were there before, have you? You should know as you were there once. You used to be in their shoes. You used to do what they are doing now. There is no way for you.

It hurt me real bad, if a leader of your stature, has his eyes turned blue black, his 61-year old body badly bruised, his pride further battered, his mind tortured, and his family deeply depressed. They may declare you insane or even make you one.

So my appeal to you is to stop your political agenda. Things really do not look good for you. The odds are heavily-stacked against you. They are going all out to nab you. Never mind if you are right and they are wrong. Forgive them. And pray that they will be forgiven too. Find solace in Allah. Be more submissive to Him. He knows best. Truth will prevail eventually.

Hence this appeal is not because I despise them less but because I love you more.

Is Anwar really a threat – that they’re all out to pin him down.

I have been toying with the idea for months since the March’s general election. Who does the flip-flop PM Pak Lah really regard as his Numero One political foe – who stands a realistic chance of unseating him? Is it Anwar Ibrahim? Is it Najib Tun Razak? Is it Dr Mahathir? Muhyiddin Yasin? Ku Li?

Let’s put our heads together and take a look at the following personalities.

1. Najib. As the Deputy President of UMNO, Najib is in the position to wrest the Presidency and hence the Premiership. But Najib is involved in too many controversies; and Pak Lah has a file on Najib’s alleged wrongdoings in his hand – waiting to be opened even if there are words of Najib’s intention to wrest the presidency of UMNO from him. He knows that Najib’s closet is full of foul smell and Najib would not even dare to try. Furthermore Najib is a yes-man, a coward who has no stand at all. He is so engrossed with pacifying his lady and clearing his name that the odds are heavil-stacked against him. Now that he had made a pact to hand over power to Najib in June 2010, Najib should be a discontented aspirant who has had his mouth effectively shut up. So, Najib is totally out of the question.

2. Dr Mahathir. Though making mosquito noises here and there, attacking Pak Lah here and there, influencing some disgruntled UMNO members here and there, Dr Mahathir poses no threat at all. Furthermore, at 83, he is nearly senile. UMNO members still can’t forgive his ruthlessness while in power. And he doesn’t enjoy the privileges of an incumbency. He poses no threat at all.

3. Mukhriz. A green horn riding on his father’s popularity, he could be wiped out by just a hand signal by Pak Lah. He may not survive the Youth polls, let alone pose any threat at all.

4. Muhyiddin. An easy meat to “kau tim”. What can Muhyiddin do? As the incumbent, Pak Lah could send feelers out that he doesn’t want to see Muhyiddin being nominated by any UMNO divisions. One or two errant divisions in Johore may nominate him but that’s all he gets. He may get some votes in the runs up in UMNO polls, that’s it. Muhyiddin would not make any impact.

5. Ku Li. He is out of UMNO mainstream far too long to pose any serious threat, though may be a more lethal threat compared to Muhyiddin or Mukhriz. He may gain support from disgruntled UMNO members. As Muhyiddin, one or two divisions may nominate him. However, Pak Lah must be wary of him should Anwar Ibrahim gives his backing to Ku Li (in case Anwar is put behind bars for any reason whatsoever). Then Ku Li would pose a formidable opponent in the run ups for UMNO presidency.

6. Anwar Ibrahim. Weeks before the general election in March, Pak Lah denied that he would be calling for an election soon. But upon learning that Anwar’s ban on active politics would end in May, he changed his mind and called for an election in March. When Sabah and Sarawak expressed their dissatisfaction over their lack of representation at federal level, Pak Lah made many trips to both states to pacify them. Then when Anwar announced that Pakatan would form the new federal government on 16 Sep, again Pak Lah announced goodies after goodies for the two East Malaysian states. When Anwar announced that 30 BN MPs were prepared to jumped ship, the threat to Pak Lah became real.

When Yong Teck Lee announced that SAPP had lost their confidence in his leadership, Pak Lah started to scramble everywhere.

When the Oppositions requisitioned for an emergency motion of no-confidence in Pak Lah, the Parliament was cordoned off, turning it into “war zone”.

When rumours of Pakatan’s sponsored demonstration was being planned on Monday, road leading to the Parliament was off limit, while roadblocks were set up, causing a mad, massive traffic congestion in the entire Klang Valley. They even got a court order preventing Anwar from nearing the parliament building.

Does Anwar really pose a serious threat to the flip-flop PM’s stranglehold of his crown.

I personally think Pak Lah is over-reacting, because as the PM, though a flip-flop one, he is all too powerful, to even finish off Anwar politically, by invoking his greatest weapon ever – the ISA (with special thanks to Dr Mahathir). Oopsh……….

His (Anwar’s) supporters? – they will toe the line………………. or else throw them together with their political master in Kamunting. End of the story. It is not that he (Pak Lah) is not used to do that.

Speaker says ‘No’ to no-confidence motion

Kuala Lumpur: Monday, 14-July-2008:

The emergency motion of no-confidence moved by Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has been rejected by the Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

**************************************************

  • It’s expected, as never in Malaysian history has the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat allowed any motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister or any other motion that makes the BN government “loses face”.
  • Well, not exactly actually. The Speaker would allow any motion to increase MPs allowance. The Speaker would allow any motion to dispel any errant opposition MP. The Speaker would allow any motion to discuss rice shortage but never any motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister or sort of. This is a fact that Dr. Azizah and other opposition MPs must understand and accept.
  • She must also understand that the Speaker comes from the ruling party; and is politically-obliged to fulfill the agenda of his political masters. What’s more his political career was somewhat over, and was plucked from obscurity to become the Speaker by the PM. And who in this materialistic world would want to put his job on the line by allowing such a motion. In fact if the Speaker comes from PKR or DAP, he would have acted in the same manner. This is a fact of life, dear Dr. Azizah.
  • Motion is allowed if it meets 3 criteria: is specific, of public interest and is urgent. So far, motions to set up a royal commission to probe allegations made against politicians; and to discuss Raja Petra Kamarudin’s statutory declaration over the purported new evidence on Altantuya’s murder are not specific, not of public interest and not urgent.
  • In fact all motions moved by the Opposition would never be specific enough, not of public interest and not urgent enough.

Anwar barred from Parliament

The Star, 14-July-2008

Kuala Lumpur: Police have obtained a court order barring Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, his supporters and the public from holding any rally or participating in it within a five-kilometre radius from the Parliament building today.

****************************************************

  • A very dangerous precedent set by the Police. Of all parties, the Police, yes, the Police have obtained the court order to restraint Anwar and his supporters to hold any rally in anticipation of the no-confidence motion in Parliament requisitioned by the Pakatan Rakyat.

  • Questions before us, Malaysia are aplenty. Are they acting in the interest of the general public? Aren’t they supposed to be apolitical? Aren’t they supposed to maintain law and order in the country without prejudice and preference? Aren’t they supposed to be loyal to the government of the day, irregardless who their political masters are?

  • But it seems the Police have now become an aggrieved party? Or at worst, they are now against Anwar?

  • As if the court order is not enough to stop Anwar and his supporters, they next resorted to the unthinkable thing that caused the entire commuters in the Klang Valley to suffer. In their overzealous quest to stop Anwar, they have caused massive traffic congestion in Kuala Lumpur by closing all roads leading to the city.

  • I can’t comprehend their reason to have to resort to such an action? They might have claimed to have pre-empted any untoward incident as tension was so high. I couldn’t careless if they want to obtain any court order to restraint Anwar from nearing the Parliament building, or Mahathir from his scratching attacks on Pak Lah, or Lim Guan Eng from inviting BN leaders from sitting in his committees or bodies aimed at uplifting the lifes of the Penangites, or Husam Musa from enticing BN reps to join PAS or Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin from working closely with DAP or even Yong Teck Lee from supporting the motion of no-confidence, but what irked me most was the traffic congestion caused by their stupid action. The traffic madness was not only confined to KL but over to the entire Klang Valley. It was madness at its best.

  • If Anwar and his supporters flout the court order, just charge and put them behind bars. Don’t burden the rakyat as a whole. If there is insufficient evident against them, invoke the ISA – it is your most lethal weapon – to detain them without trial.

D-G nabbed / 13 more held

The Star, 12-July-2008
Immigration Department Director-General, Datuk Wahid Md Don and six others, including two businessmen, have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency for alleged graft.

The Star, 13-July-2008
The Anti-Corruption Agency sweep of the Immigration Department for graft continued with the arrest of its deputy director-general Yusof Abu Bakar.

****************************************************

· Hopefully, this is the start of Pak Lah’s new mission – to rid of corrupt officers that made the country rotten.

· Hopefully, the move is not for show only, not to blind the rakyat that the Government is serious.

· Good job, ACA but make sure that it doesn’t stop there. The rakyat is fed up with the “no case & file close” and “poor investigation / prosecution” stigma.

· What about other departments – the police, road transport, customs etc? Their turn will come soon?.

Barisan can win big in next polls, says Pak Lah

The Star, 13-July-2008

PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has confidence that Malaysians can help BN win big in the next general election similar to the 2004 historical victory.

He also stated that the disaster of the March general election was a blessing in disguise, adding that there was a lesson to be learnt.

**************************************************

An open letter to Pak Lah

Dear Pak Lah,

On 13-July-2008, the Star reported that you had the confidence that Malaysians could help BN win big in the next general election similar to the 2004 historical victory.

It also reported that you said the disaster of the March general election was a blessing in disguise, adding that there was a lesson to be learnt.

Well, as a concerned rakyat, I’m pleased that you have learnt your lesson well; and have come to your senses.

I guess BN could win it big in the next general election if you could implement these 15 point- memorandum. Otherwise forget it. Don’t even think of winning it big, BN will be wiped out completely.

1. If you do not want to listen to your cabinet ministers and their officers, never mind as they are as dumb, but not to the 2 K (Khairy and Kallimulah) and the 4th floor boys. At least listen to your advisers who are subject matter experts. Who are the 2Ks compared to the Science Adviser and Economic Adviser?

2. The country integrity rating is dropping. Why? Because the entire police force, immigration department, road transport department and custom department are infected by corrupt officers. Not only them. The state government departments are no different. The entire government machinery is corrupted. Do something before it gets worse. Stop the “Malaysia boleh” tag. Stop them from further enriching themselves and giving the country a real bad name.

3. The Judiciary’s image has been badly tarnished after the exposure of the VK Lingam video. Do something. Form a judicial commission to look into the allegations against them. At least the public perception of their integrity can be restored. And don’t interfere anymore after that.

4. How could the ACA and AG chambers be directly under you? Meaning you could tell the ACA who to investigate; and the AG who to prosecute? No wander many of your political foes and those who do not toe your line get silenced. Where is their independence? Let them be answerable to the public. Place them directly under the Parliament.

5. Repel the draconian laws such as the ISA, which empowers the government to detain people without trial. The other existing laws are sufficient. If anybody flouts the law, charge them. Let the laws decide.

6. Change your attitude towards the Pakatan-controlled states. Let them do their job of governing. Stop sabotaging them but support them instead. Pamper them. Be nice to them. Continue the federal allocation to them. Then the rakyat perception towards the Federal government would be different.

7. Drop the big name racists who had contributed to UMNO’s all-time low reputation such as Ali Rustam (who asked Keyveas to get back to India); Hishamuddin Tun Hussein (of the keris-unsheating fame); Nazri Aziz (the most arrogant and racist Minister); and Adnan Yaacob (the chief gangster of Pahang who is used to use vulgar words and hand gesture). And Khairy is also on the list.

8. Drop state leaders who have turned the states into their own empire. Does Sarawak belong to Taib Mahmud and Sabah to Musa Aman? How come Taib and his family members and machais have interests in you-name-what business? They are controlling the state economy. And Musa Aman as well. Dubbed the root of all Sabah’s ills), this iron-fisted ruler and his machais are controlling Sabah’s economy by disregarding the rakyat’s welfare. The more Sabah is alienated by the Federal, the better for him. Whatever discontentment SAPP’s Yong Teck Lee, Bernard Dompak and the others may have with the Federal government, he and his machais stand to gain.

9. Appoint leaders with impeccable integrity to helm state UMNO and dropping questionable characters such as Annuar Musa (being probed for graft involving the fund for the hardcore poor); and Muhammad Taib Muhammad (of the “I-don’t-read-English” fame for money smuggling in Australia) from helming Kelantan UMNO and Selangor UMNO respectively. UMNO is not lacking in leaders with impeccable integrity and well-liked characters.

10. Foul-mouthed, arrogant and kid-like MPs like Bung Mukhtar and Said Yusof must not be in Parliament in the first place. What did they contribute to the nation building other than thumbing tables, heckling opposition MPs, interrupting opposition MPs from speaking, calling names, exclaiming mabuk kuasa, bodoh, gila, kurang ajar et el . It’s a shame to see how some of them behave. They not only waste Parliament time, but also waste the rakyat money. Candidates for the next election must be screened to rid not only those with criminal and corrupt background but also those with low moral values. Make education one of the main criteria of selection.

11. Advise (or even force) Samy Vellu (the cockiest ex-Minister who did no wrong) to step down from helming MIC. Samy has been in power far too long, so much so that MIC is Samy; and Samy is MIC. Members are getting disgruntled and fed up as he has not done enough for the Indian community. What has he done to improve the standards of living of the Indian community in general? One may see that the vast majority of them are living in the slump and estates. No doubt it’s not that bad compared to 30 years ago, but compared to other races, they are far behind. Only now, with the emergence of Hindraf, this Tok Sami is talking about the Indian community. MIC needs rebranding and new leadership, otherwise MIC may someday acts like SAPP.

12. Advise MCA to drop the its business-party tag and adopt a more Chinese at-large party tag. What has MCA done besides fighting for business opportunities for the Chinese? What do lay members from the villages get? Have their standards of living improve? Even they have, it is not MCA’s doings. Compare that to the business community. Otherwise MCA will become irrelevant someday.

13. UMNO leaders must shed the arrogant, cocky and difficult-to-approach tag. Back then when Kelantan was under UMNO, everything cannot be done. Everything must follow procedures and protocol. They simply shrugged you off. You can’t meet them without appointment, even with small time leaders. Even with appointments, one is lucky to get to meet these not-so-high ranking officials. Those days, you don’t always see them, except during election time.

On the other side, take a look at PAS leaders. They don’t shoo away members of the public wanting to see them. They are very approachable. Even without an appointment, Tok Guru Nik Aziz would find time to see anyone wanting to see him.

14. Be serious in your quest, if you have one, to eradicate corruption; and its first cousin, cronyism. And more importantly, it must be done without fear or favour. But it’s coincidental that many high profile cases being investigated resulted in “no case”, whereareas small cases involving police constables or corporals are bring brought to courts. Amend the laws. Enhance the penalty for both the “giver” and “taker”. For a start, you may want to start with your own family members first.

15. Last but not least, manage the country with the help of your cabinet ministers and their officers, not by what is often referred to as Kerajaan Tiga Beranak.

Abdullah to contest Umno top post, Najib to go for No. 2

The Star, 11 July 2008

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will step down as Prime Minister in June 2010 and hand over power to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Abdullah, who is Umno president, said he would seek nomination to contest the party’s top post in the December party elections and Najib, who is his deputy, would go for the number two party post.

********************************************
Whao............Such a long time to go. Many Malaysian can’t wait that long. But more importantly is that it effectively shuts Muhyiddin Yassin out of the equation. Sour grape he becomes that he said from Tokyo that “some people (referring to him) consider the succession date in 2010 as too long”.

Meanwhile Ku Li said that the UMNO presidency was an elected post and should not be handed over to anybody but to a person chosen by the delegates. He said It was improper for Abdullah to hand over any post as it is an elected post.

Most probable scenario:

  • UMNO members by and large, will forgive the flip-flog Pak Lah’s poor performance during the GE12; and concentrate on the handover.
  • Jostling and politicking amongst UMNO members to be close to Najib intensifies.
  • Muhyiddin may team up with Ku Li to challenge Pak Lah and Najib in the coming party polls.
  • If Najib survives the allegations of his involvement in the Altantuya murder and Anwar conspiracy, he may not survive that long – June 2010 to take over.
  • Dr Mahathir predicted that more accusations would be thrown at Najib to put him down until he would be deemed unfit to serve as Deputy Prime Minister. Read more Here

No-confidence notice filed

The Star, 11 July 2008

IN AN unprecedented move, the Opposition has submitted a notice to the Dewan Rakyat to debate on an emergency motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his Cabinet.

Opposition Leader Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail filed the motion at the Speaker’s office at 3.45pm, accompanied by other Pakatan Rakyat leaders including PKR vice-president Azmin Ali, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and PAS secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar.

“We have met with the Speaker to explain our reasons and we will leave it to him to decide on whether to allow the motion,” she said, adding that the motion would also heighten the feeling that the country needed a change.

*************************************
  • Very interesting development we Malaysians have been waiting for – not that we are anti-establishment, but because we care for the establishment (irregardless of whoever runs it).
  • An acid test for Pak Lah and team.
  • Most probable scenario:
  1. The Speaker will disallow the motion, which he or other Speakers before him did – as any motion against the Government has never been given the go-ahead (Speakers are from the Government, remember?).
  2. If it’s allowed (but I’m dead certain that it won’t), it will decide who gets to lead the country.
  3. If it’s allowed (but I’m dead certain that it won’t), the House won’t pass it, as Najib, as the BN Chief Whip, will whip up the BN MPs nice and proper before the debate on the motion (you know la all BN MPs are selfish, greedy and possess no balls.
  4. If it’s allowed (but I’m dead certain that it won’t), how is the Opposition going to garner enough support (SAPP’s support is now questionable).
  5. Status quo remains. The Opposition will still be barking like a dog; whilst Pak Lah gets to get back to his usual sleeping posture - irregardless of at the official functions or not; days or nights.

Cop vs cops in Gemas station

The Star, 11 July 2008

GEMAS: A policeman has lodged a report against all his colleagues including his superiors allegedly over dissatisfaction on how the monthly bribes from those operating illegal activities was being distributed.
In retaliation, one of his superiors, a sergeant, lodged another police report against the policeman, a lance corporal, for allegedly selling station property to scrap dealers.

A source said the lance corporal, in his 40s, was dissatisfied with his superiors for allegedly taking the lion’s share of the bribes while the rank and file received very little.

*****************************************************

  • Such is the sad state of affairs in our Police force. There is no denying. It happens, everywhere, not only Gemas, as everybody knows it. There is no stop to it, as we Malaysian public have the tendency to “give” to avoid being penalized; and our policemen are very greedy lots; and the attitude adopted by them is “since people give, we take la. There is nothing wrong ma. Everybody also take, including senior officers ”.

Gemas revelation is just the tip of the iceberg. What about other stations? Presumably almost the same state of affairs la. What differs is the size of the cake – the more senior ones get a bigger share as compared to the junior ones.

Most probable scenario: Somebody will be investigated and possibly prosecuted ....... but alas, only the small fry do get caught. The mighty ones are normally big enough to pierce through the net............and hence the state of affairs in the Police force continues.......... Well, this is our beloved Malaysia. Apa nak jadi…..?

Decision not up to AG

The Star, 8-July-08

Attorney General Ab Gani Patail will not be the one to decide whether to go ahead with prosecution if the ACA probe against him finds that there is a case, says Nazri Aziz.

******************************
Whatever said and done, nothing is seen yet. Nazri (or other) may say anything but it goes to show how absurd our systems is when the power to decide to prosecute (or not) is vested in one man, i.e. the AG; and now he himself is under probe.

If they are serious enough to redeem their lost credibility, suspend both the AG and IGP so that they can't meddle with the investigations. Take heed of what others from out of Malaysia are doing. No need the US. Just South Korea will do.

What is the probably scenario? Since there is already a public outcry, the ACA (or Government) would have no choice but to find that there is a case and thus he (together with the IGP) prosecuted. But………..again, the court would find them not guilty as the prosecution lacked evidence.

This is our very-own Malaysia-boleh mentality. Anything also can………….Take look at Yong Teck Lee and his SAPP. Yesterday, we have no confidence. Today, just wait and see first. Tomorrow, we have full confidence. Then the probe against him will be stopped or the ACA will say “there is no case”.

The outcomes are already pre-determined. The scripts are the same.

Sunday’s opposition protest a failure, says Najib

The Star, 8-July-08

Najib described Sunday’s “One Million People Protest Rally” organized by the opposition in PJ as a failure. The rally was to protest against the fuel price hike.

Hooray. Kudos to Najib and Pak Lah. The protest was a failure. You won. The opposition lost. It shows that the rakyat finally approved of the fuel price hike.

Otherwise, Najib wouldn’t be so proud to say that the Sunday’s opposition protest was a failure. Once again, congratulations Najib. Job well done. Keep it up, Mr. Ex-future PM-in waiting.

Between Anwar Ibrahim and Saiful Bukhari

Whao!!!

My cold sweat rolled down when I heard that both Anwar Ibrahim and Saiful Bukhari were prepared to swear on the Quran over the sodomy allegations.

It's not that I hate Anwar more and love Saiful less or love Anwar more and hate Saiful less (borrowing the famous quote from the other Anwar - Annuar Musa during the heydays of the Mahathir-Tengku Razaleigh crisis) but I don't want to lose either one of them. They are great actors; and with the PI, P.Balasubramaniam, they make a threesome - the 3 stooges of the Malaysia's political drama.

Now they want to prove they are telling the truth by swearing on the Quran. But there can't be two rights, right?. Definitely one of them is a liar. The question is who?

Whoever is telling the truth or lying, we are bound to lose one of them. Losing them? I mean losing them to HELL.

Swearing on the Quran is a not a "play thing". It's a very very serious act, and is not a show just to prove one's is right. The one who is lying shall face the wrath of Allah SWT.........possibly in HELL.

It's either Anwar or Saiful. Whao..........that is cool.

Between a Moderate PAS and an Extremist UMNO

This,

“The state government has no plans to penalize the Sungai Rapat assemblywoman, Hamidah Osman for her racist remarks during the recent state assembly. Menteri Besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin said Hsmidah had already apologized many, many times and felt that all Perakians should accept her apology”......The Star, 7-July-2008

Or,

At a seminar on Penghayatan Bangsa Melayu at SM Teknik near Kuala Kangsar, Nazri Aziz said that a MB or PM was duty bound to uphold Malay interest. Even if he is a socialist or even a communist, the MB or PM is entrusted to fulfill the social contract agreed upon by the nation’s forefathers.......The Star, 7-July-2008

Malaysians, you have a choice.

One is a PAS leader, a very moderate one, who is prepared to work with others for the sake of the nation; and whose sound judgment and good sense prevail;

Against another,

who is a Cabinet member but talks along the racist line, as though he’s a kampong, uneducated UMNO leader of the lowest hierarchy, who sometimes doubles up as a gangster, a maintenance officer and a housekeeper.

Amusing Malaysia………..Part 2

Apa nak jadi............
Tak senang hati.......
Setiap hari..............
Tak henti-henti.......

Dendam dan dengki......
Sampai ke mati...........
Tak puas lagi........
Lubang kubur digali....

Apa nak jadiiiiii........
Aku pun tak reti…….
Biar semua mati……
Baru puas hatiiiii………

Malaysia has plumetted to its lowest elbs in its entire history. The happenings of late, were unacceptable to normal sane human comprehension. It’s inhuman. It’s insane. It’s disgusting. It stinks.

Are these happenings amusing enough?

1. P. Balasubramaniam, the PI who made 2 statutory declarations, went missing. By doing that, his credibility in being questioned. Nobody trusts him anymore. Maybe he’s being hidden by his protector somewhere. You know in Malaysia, anything is possible; and anything can happen to anybody. Truly amusing, isn’t it?

2. The AG and IGP, who are being investigated for suppression of facts during the Anwar’s saga are still on their jobs. How could their “machais” do their job if they still call the shot. Wouldn’t the IGP vet through the investigation papers before sending to the AG who has the absolute power whether to prosecute of not. Wouldn’t it make cow sense for the AG to decide to prosecute himself. How amusing?

3. Move aside all actors and actresses. Let’s give way to the arrogant, selfish, back-stabbing, mudslingering and greedy politicians. Their dramas are much better. They look very real. Aren’t they amusing?

4. Certain unscrupulous groups are planning a rally of 1 million people to protest against the fuel hike. What can they do? If they achieve the 1 million mark, will the fuel price goes down? This is unhealthy, as any demonstration or rally in a highly-tensed political and racial situation like now, needs only a small trigger to spark off racial clashes. What is more amusing is that the organisers are also in power in some parts in Malaysia?

5. With the emergence of Bala’s SDs, RPK’s SD, the sodomy things, the Saiful’s photo in Najib’s office, everybody backed down from focussing on Pak Lah. How come? Some theories may be true. Amusing, isn’t it?

Cuba bayangkan.............

1. Zaman tuduh menuduh. Anwar tuduh Najib. Najib sangkal dan tuduh Anwar balik. Saiful tuduh Anwar main belakangnya, Anwar sangkal. anwar pulak tuduh Saiful alat Najib. Mahathir tuduh Pak Lah, Pak Lah sangkal. Hishamuddin dan KJ tuduh Mukhriz. Mukhriz menyangkal.

Mula-mula RPK. Kemudian si P. Balasubramaniam. Selepas itu siapa pula agaknya? Anwar ke? Najib ke? Pak Lah ke? Dr M ke? Sesiapa pun boleh berbuat akuan bersumpah. Cuma bayar RM4. Akuan bersumpah dijadikan mainan. Boleh main-main sumpah. Akuan bersumpah demi akuan bersumpah. Apa nak jadi.........?

3. Tuduh-menuduh itu diikuti rapat oleh saman-menyaman. Anwar saman Saiful. Saiful saman balik Anwar. KJ saman RPK. Lt Kolonel yang dua orang tu pulak saman RPK. Rosmah tak mahu saman RPK ke? Samanlah. Banyak lagi kes saman-menyaman ni. Mahlamah jadi sangat sibuk. Sebab itu la terjadi banyak kes-kes tergendala. Apa nak jadi dah………?

4. Sabotaj-mensabotaj berleluasa. Inilah yang dikatakan “you reap what you sow. Atau “you get back what you give”.

Apa nak jadi …….?

5. Salahguna kuasa. Jenis rasuah juga ni. Pepatah Ingerís, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely amat tepat sekali di Malaysia. Apa taknya. Siapa yang paling berkuasa, dialah yang paling kuat rasuah. Salah guna kuasa berleluasa.

Sikit-sikit tunjuk perasaan. Sikit-sikit KJ and konco-konconya tunjuk perasaan. Guna saluran tertentu. Kalau tak suka, hantar rombongan pergi jumpa orang yang kita nak tunjuk perasaan itu. Kalau tak suka pada AS, panggil dutanya dan taruk dia kuat-kuat. Ini tak. Terpekik terlolong macam disampuk polong. Apa nak jadi ……?

Hai, Dr M, apa nak jadi dah……?

Apa nak jadi dah.............? bersambung
